The closest most of us get to a world class golfer is on our TV screens but that’s all about to change for a select group of sixth form students in Doha.

LLS, the UK’s leading specialist of sports coaching and Post 16 education met a group of Year 11 pupils at Doha College in May; all were eager to learn about LLS’ Your Future sixth form sports course; each had their own exciting ambitions for the future.

Jordan Wright, LLS Managing Director explained to guests, including parents how the sports industry is a multi-billion-dollar market which is constantly evolving. As technology becomes more advanced and viewing figures sore annually the demand for sports experts has never been higher.

How to become a sports expert

Qualifications, work experience and a professional network was the winning formula presented which in theory sounds straight forward, but in practice can be very challenging for a young person to establish; for this reason Doha College, Evolution Sports and LLS have teamed up to help!

This September up to 16 students will have the opportunity to enrol at Doha College 6th form and study towards a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (development, coaching and fitness) which carries the equivalent UCAS points to 3 A-Levels and is recognised by some of the world’s top sports Universities.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain weekly work experience at Evolution Sports teaching a range of activities including basketball, rugby, swimming and football.

The first set of places have been secured by students from each of the following schools: Doha College, Park House School, Doha British School and Sherbourne Qatar.

During their sixth form studies, these sports students will be exposed to a range of elite level professionals including leading psychologists, analysts and athletes, all of whom will become a part of their own professional network – starting with the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters 2018 at Doha Golf Club.
