This innovative basketball programme has been created in partnership with Swish Coaching which is headed up by former professional player Sion Parry.
The course is based in Holyhead but is open to students from North Wales and beyond, thanks to our residential options. In 2025 our female squad became Welsh Champions and our male squad came runners up in the same tournament.
who is this course for?
Our Sixth Form Basketball Programme is built for committed student-athletes who want to elevate their game while continuing their education.
Players follow a high-level performance pathway, developing advanced skills, sharpening their basketball IQ, building basketball-specific speed and strength, whilst gaining the mental and emotional tools needed for long-term success — both in sport and in life.
Your Qualification
Over the course of two academic years, students will earn the Pearson Level 3 National Extended BTEC Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development (2019). This is a full-time programme meaning you will have around 15 hours of lessons split between theory and team training. The rest of your week will be self-studying and gaining work experience.

The qualification carries up to 168 UCAS points, which is the equivalent to studying 3 A-Levels and is 100% coursework based. Perfect for those who prefer to learn without the pressure of exams.
PEARSON APPROVED CENTRE
Each one of our centres around the UK are proudly approved by Pearson. This ensures that our education provision delivered to each student is at an exceptionally high level and we are assessed regularly by Pearson.
How will this course develop you as a player?
Students will access 8 hours of high-level basketball coaching each week, including daily shooting masterclasses, strength and conditioning sessions, advanced footwork and dribbling drills.
Utilising the Dr. Dish CT+, players will shoot 10 times more than a regular rebounder. Players are able to track their shooting stats across all areas of the court while honing their technique using video analysis software.
Basketball Opportunities
Our basketball students are given some fantastic experiences. Pathways for talented players include the chance to secure an athlete scholarship. Those wishing to coach basketball abroad can apply for paid jobs at the Global Coaching Conference. All students are given international opportunities including basketball camp in Las Vegas and an end of season trip to Alicante.
