An Unforgettable Trip to Liverpool’s LLS HQ
LLS North Wales students at Airborn Academy
At LLS, our sixth form sports course offers all students the chance to visit Liverpool and stay at our very own LLS HQ. With space to accommodate around 100 students, our headquarters is perfect for an unforgettable experience exploring one of the UK’s most iconic cities.
Every one of our students receive this opportunity, across all 27 LLS sixth form centres around England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It’s just one of the ways we aim to make their two-year journey with us truly unforgettable.
Whether it’s exploring Liverpool’s famous historic landmarks, taking part in exciting sports activities, or making memories with friends, everyone leaves with something special to look back on.
Kicking Off at Airborn Academy
First, our groups head to the Airborn Academy, a purpose built urban sports centre. The morning entails an activity session centered around parkour, trampolining and tumbling. A massive facility with state of the art facilities meant the session was filled with high energy fun which sets them up for the day.
Just half a mile down the road from Airborn Academy stands Everton FC’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium. Perched in the Bramley Moore Dock on the banks of the Mersey, the students could stroll around the ground and admire its grandeur. Boasting a capacity of 52,888, the waterfront’s shiny new colossus is a site to behold.
Exploring the Iconic Albert Dock
Next is a trip to Liverpool’s waterfront to the famous Royal Albert Dock. Touted as the most popular open access tourist attraction in the North West, the Dock is a historic landmark in the heart of Liverpool. Groups enjoy views of the Three Graces (the Liver Building, Cunard Building, and Port of Liverpool Building), the M&S Bank Arena, The Liver Birds, the River Mersey, and more.
After a short stroll along the waterfront, the groups brave the waters of the Mersey in a session with Liverpool Watersports. The Watersports Centre sits in the panoramic Queens Dock on the River Mersey. A variety of aquatic activities are available, such as kayaking, pedalos, and canoeing. Usually, we take advantage of the inflatable Aqua Park, a massive floating obstacle course with slides, swings, a jungle gym, and trampolines. Here, they enjoy an afternoon of fun in the sun involving everyone, a great team-bonding activity that leaves everyone smiling and exhausted.

Heading Into Town
Once dry, everyone heads into the city centre to spend some free time. Starting in Liverpool One, the city’s central hub, they can explore the hundreds of shops, restaurants, and historic landmarks. Famous attractions like the Anglican and Metropolitan Cathedrals, the Cavern Club, countless museums, and more are only a short walk away. There is more than enough opportunity for the students to make lasting memories.
Finally, after a bite to eat, the day ends with an hour-long multi-sport session put on by our coaches. It’s the perfect cap to end the day, with a mixed atmosphere of bonding and competition that leaves everyone ready for bed.
A Visit to Hope University and Farewell
The following day, before groups take a tour of the Liverpool Hope University Campus to give them a glimpse of their possible futures post-LLS. Seeing these cutting-edge facilities provides an understanding of what they can do post-graduation and what awaits them in higher education.
After all the excitement, the group departs a little tired but with some lasting memories filled with laughs. These trips are designed to prepare our students, bring them together, and offer experiences they might never have had otherwise. The LLS sixth form sports course gives students many opportunities to set up their careers, but we also want to provide students the chance to develop as a person, through new experiences such as these.
