Achieve Your Full Potential With LLS

Ellis Longworth graduated from LLS this past summer, and has spent the last 2 months coaching in Qatar with Evolution Sports. Come September, he’ll be studying at Manchester Metropolitan University with the eventual aim of carving out a career in the football industry. We sat down with him to talk about LLS, coaching abroad, and his plans for the future.

Coaching Abroad

Setting his sights on coaching with Evolution Sports Qatar, Ellis knew he’d have to showcase his abilities as a coach and put all his experience to use. There were only 6 roles available with Evolution Sports, as opposed to other employers such as Challenger Sports who offer over 100. By taking a chance on himself and earning his place with Evolution Sports, Ellis proved that he’d graduated from LLS as an elite coach who’s driven and determined to reach his full potential.

Graduating from sixth form marks a time of change in a young person’s life. It’s a crossroads where the choices made will define the years that shape their adult lives. Whether it’s university, going straight into employment, or spending time travelling and figuring out their next steps; this period is the start of their journey into adulthood. At LLS we promote independence in our students. We want them to graduate with an understanding of what they want to do next. That’s why we offer so many chances to find the right opportunities for them. Our Global Coaching Conference provides a chance to understand the pathways available to them, while also offering connections and opportunities to kickstart their careers.

Handling the Pressure

In Qatar, he’s been coaching kids of all ages, doing a vast array of sports he’d never heard of before. One week was table tennis, the next was Vortex Football (a sport that’s closer to American Football than anything he was used to). This would be overwhelming for anyone, but he told us how he felt prepared by his time at LLS.

“I’m already used to doing all sorts of different stuff, like coaching literally everything.”

“Doing multisports with LLS makes you a better coach. I wouldn’t have got this job [in Qatar] otherwise.”

“If you only knew one sport coming out here, you’d be done for, you’ve got to be adaptable.”

During his time at LLS, Ellis grew to be an incredible coach. He took full advantage of what was on offer to him, and reaped the rewards. These two months in Qatar will stay with him forever, and he’ll be able to look back and be proud of what he achieved. His drive, and his confidence in himself will be the defining elements of his success. The LLS sixth form course strives to instill these qualities in all of our students, to ensure they’re capable of building a successful career in anything they set their mind to.
