LLS NATIONAL AWARDS 2026
Every year LLS give out awards for our highest achieving students across all of our sites. Students are rewarded for achievements both in and out of the classroom.
The categories for the awards are overall student, best coaches, work experience, academic achievement, best athlete, entrepreneur and resilience.
Jan Potter Award (Overall Student) – Sam Booth (Holyhead)
Sam Booth has been awarded the Jan Potter Award due to his incredible achievements throughout his time at LLS Holyhead.
In October of his year 12 studies Sam suffered a heart attack whilst playing basketball for Chesire Phoenix. This event could have damaged his academic and sporting ambitions. However, Sam showed incredible resilience, determination and strength to overcome this. He returned to his studies and to basketball with a clear determination to succeed.
His exceptional perseverance has led him to achieving top grades as well as earning himself an opportunity to study at a high-profile university.

Athlete of the year- Maxie Moor
Maxie Moore has been awarded the athlete of the year award due to his exceptional achievements in elite level golf while on the programme.
He has competed in Spain in the European Junior Championships, is 8-time club champion at West Derby and holds club records at both West Derby and Childwall. As well as creating his own elite golf coaching set up in his garden where he delivers private coaching sessions.
His outstanding success as a golfer has led him to achieving an all-expenses paid scholarship to America.

Male Coach of the year – Charlie Wood (Brighouse)
Charlie Wood has been awarded male coach of the year because of his excellent commitment to his coaching and professional development throughout the course.
During his time at LLS Charlie coached with Manchester City as well as visiting Finland and Alicante where he was voted best coach. On top of this between the first and second year of his course he secured regular employment with Bradford City AFC as part of their foundations coaching team.
Some of his most impressive achievements include setting up his own social media page where he documents training sessions as well as acquiring FA qualifications and even being selected for an FA recruitment video.
His commitment has allowed him to be offered a position with Beestera this summer which will allow him to develop as a coach even further.

Female Coach of the year – Skye Naylor (Kirkby)
Skye Naylor has been awarded female coach of the year due to her incredible ambition and professionalism throughout her time at LLS.
In her first year of study after the residential Skye independently reached out to a member of staff from Uno Mas arranging to go to his gym and support coaching sessions for her coursework. Following this Sky gained support from him as part of her Level 3 Personal Training qualification.
Skye was successful in her application to go to Qatar with Evo Sports which is a highly competitive programme. She also applied for the Skills School in Ireland, which only offers very limited places, receiving incredible feedback after her interview.
Across the course Skye has supported taster events and PE takeovers showing maturity and resilience showing her strength as an outstanding young coach.

Academic Achievement – Ethan Snead (Flint) & Orlaith Mailey (Belfast)
Ethan and Orlaith have been awarded the academic achievement awards due to their dedication, commitment and success shown throughout their courses.
Ethan has consistently shown an excellent attitude to learning approaching lessons positively and always meeting deadlines. Outside the classroom he has consistently completed weekly placements showing his dedication to his professional development and career aspirations.
Ethan’s academic excellence has led him to coach in America this summer as well as the opportunity to study at university after that.
Orlaith has shown an extremely high level of commitment with attendance records of 100% in year 1 and 98% in year 2 fully engaging with the curriculum and producing work at a very high level.
Outside the classroom she has succeeded as well completing 500 hours of placement with Skill School and her local GAA Club as well as recently passing her Challenger Assessment to qualify as an international coach this summer.

Work experience award- Luke Culshaw (Liverpool)
Luke Culshaw has been awarded the Work Placement Award due to the commitment, initiative and professionalism he has demonstrated alongside his studies.
Luke continuously looked for opportunities to develop his experience completing two full weeks of NHS physiotherapy work experience as well as regularly supporting a private physiotherapy clinic.
Aswell as his physiotherapy experience Luke has contributed to community sport, regularly coaching with Kirkby Millers and Liverpool Harriets. He has also been involved LSSP events in which he officiated across a variety of sports consistently showing a high level of professionalism.
Entrepreneur of the year – Liam Chamberlain-Jones (Flint)
Liam Chamberlain-Jones has been awarded entrepreneur of the year due to him independently establishing his own 1-to-1 coaching business, Blue Print Coaching.
The creation and success of his own business reflects not just his coaching ability but the confidence and entrepreneurial mindset he possesses. Liam’s coaching ability has been praised throughout the course with him returning to his high school to deliver a coaching session which received exceptional feedback from the staff and students. Liam well as receiving outstanding feedback for his coaching ability at the Global Coaching Conference.
Liam’s success has allowed him the opportunity to travel to Texas this summer with Challenger Sports to coach football.

Resilience Award – AJ O’hanlon (Tower Hamlets)
AJ O’hanlon has received the resilience award due to his strength and determination whilst dealing with extremely difficult personal circumstances.
Through these challenges AJ has remained extremely committed to the programme engaging with his coursework, maintaining communication with staff when working from home and striving to achieve his best. He receives constant praise and his highly respected by staff and peers for his polite, helpful and hard-working nature.
AJ has completed the LLS Residential, Football and Fitness Expos and now wishes to progress to university showing the resilience, strength and determination he is constantly praised for.

We are extremely proud of all our students who have completed their course and are making the next step whether that is to university, apprentices or full-time employment. These awards do not just celebrate the achievements of students from this year but also recognise their future potential.
